What motivates me as a designer
We’ve all had digital experiences that are awesome and ones that are horrid. As a UX designer, it’s satisfying to analyze digital workflows that could be improved and transform them into smooth and intuitive experiences. I like to work on data-heavy interfaces and complex workflows that you might find in B2B. These experiences are often overlooked, but improvements can bring a lot of value to the people who rely on them at work every day. I love collaborating with other designers and working with users.
Favorite interaction design principle
Focus. Any time I don’t have to click into a text box to enter my info = chef’s kiss.
Favorite UI element
Steppers. If UX were distilled into a single element, this would be it. And there are a lot of great opportunities for micro-interactions and animations in the design.
Favorite and least favorite digital experiences
Favorite: Designing in Figma gives me a lot of joy. Every time they drop a new feature, it’s like they read my mind.
Least favorite: MyChart. It’s easy to get lost and confused in the app, which is a major disservice to so many people who rely on MyChart for their medical records and communication with doctors. There are too many options presented at once, and the alerts and reminders are not helpful.
Other things about me
I like making art in my free time. I have pet shrimp, which I’m very fond of . I’ll pick ketchup over mustard every day of the week.
